Scuba Diver and Corals

DEEP DIVER

Atauro option: US$ 500 | Dili option: US$ 350

During four deep dives, you will go over topics involving theory of deep diving, special equipment, deep dive planning and, most importantly, the reasons for venturing in deeper waters within the realm of recreational diving. On completion of the course you will be certified to dive to a depth of 40m/130ft while having learned about topics like gas narcosis, air supply management, emergency decompression procedures and deep dive planning.


The course is covered along two days, including:

  • Knowledge Development (online, independent study or in a classroom) 

  • 4 Open Water Dives

  • 4 boat open water dives in Atauro – all-inclusive 1 night stay in our lodge

DRIFT DIVER

Atauro option: US$ 300 | Dili option: US$ 200

This specialty course will teach you how to enjoy going with the flow as you use ocean currents – so important for the reef life – to your benefit. Drift diving can be relaxing and exhilarating at the same time, and it’s a very common practice all throughout Southeast Asia. 


The course is done in one day, including:

  • Knowledge Development (online, independent study or in a classroom) 

  • 2 Open Water Dives at depth

NIGHT DIVER

Atauro option: US$ 420 | Dili option: US$ 320

Scuba diving at night teaches you to focus on what you can see in your light’s beam, on controlling your buoyancy by feel, on staying with your buddy and on paying attention to details you may overlook during the day. Not to mention, learning from our instructors all about how reef life tends to change at night!


The course is covered along three days:

  • Knowledge Development (online, independent study or in a classroom) 

  • 4 Open Water Dives

PEAK PERFORMANCE BUOYANCY DIVER

Alongside airway control and body position, buoyancy control forms the three skills that define divers. You’ve seen buoyancy masters underwater… Gliding effortlessly, using less air and ascending, descending or hovering almost as if by thought. Those divers can easily observe aquatic life without disturbing their surroundings. Through this course, you will achieve this too!. The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course improves the buoyancy skills you learned as a new diver and elevates them to the next level.


The course is done in one day, including:

UNDERWATER NAVIGATOR

Be the scuba diver everyone wants to follow because you know where you are and where you’re going. Our instructors will help fine-tuning your observation skills and while teaching you to more accurately use your compass underwater. A fundamental skill that often goes unnoticed, being able to navigate underwater will improve your dive planning skills drastically.


The course is covered along two days, including the following parts:

  • 3 Open Water Dives

Prerequisites:

  • Age 10 years or over

  • Open Water Diver (Junior also possible)

AWARE – FISH IDENTIFICATION DIVER

“What was that fish?” is a common question heard after a dive. If you want to be the scuba diver with the answers, instead of the one asking the questions, then take the Fish Identification Specialty course. You’ll enjoy your dives even more when you recognize the creatures that you see and can identify the main fish families and their characteristics.


The course is done in one day, including the following parts:

Prerequisites:

  • Age 10 years or over

The better you understand the aquatic environment, the more you’ll be able to savor the sights you encounter on your dives. Go beyond simply recognizing the occasional fish by taking the Underwater Naturalist Course. In the course, you’ll learn to identify fish, animals and plants, and then take your knowledge to the next level with comprehension of how their interactions affect each other and the environment.


The course is done in one day, including the following parts:

AWARE – CORAL REEF CONSERVATION DIVER

US$ 150

Everyone likes to scuba dive or snorkel in warm, clear water on a vibrant coral reef, yet many people know little about what they’re seeing or the importance of reef ecosystems. The AWARE – Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course helps you appreciate the complexity of these habitats and teaches you how you can help conserve these vital systems.

Anyone who has an interest in the aquatic world can take this course. There are no prerequisites or age restrictions and no water sessions are required to earn this non-diving certification.

Through classroom discussions, you learn:

  • How coral reefs function and the complex nature of life on a reef.

  • Why coral reefs are so important.

  • Why many coral reefs are in serious trouble.

  • What you can do to prevent further decline.

  • How Project AWARE unites divers and water enthusiasts to make a difference.

The course lasts only one day (lunch included), covering:

  • Knowledge Development alongside a PADI Instructor

EMERGENCY OXYGEN PROVIDER

US$ 150

Knowing how and when to use emergency oxygen is a great skill to have and means you’re ready to help others should the need arise. Becoming anI emergency oxygen provider lets you breathe easy knowing that you can recognize scuba diving illnesses treatable with emergency oxygen, and are prepared to offer aid.

There are no prerequisites, age restrictions or water sessions required for this course – it’s open to everyone. Scuba divers, snorkelers and anyone who is around divers – boat crew, lifeguards, etc. – will benefit from having this training.

You’ll learn about dive injuries, different types of emergency oxygen equipment and safety considerations when using oxygen. Then you’ll practice:

  • Assembling and disassembling emergency oxygen equipment.

  • Deploying a non-rebreather mask and a demand inhalator valve on a breathing diver.

  • Using a pocket mask on a nonbreathing diver.

The course lasts only half day (lunch included), covering:

  • Knowledge Development alongside a PADI Instructor
